Case Study: Phil Converted Overwhelm Into Deeper Self-Knowledge & Sustainable Flow
Phil Ruttens is a marketing director, CMO consultant for C-suites in the software tech sector, and founder of TTS, a habits-based platform and coaching service. At 57, he's built multiple businesses while managing the challenge of maintaining sustainable high performance without burning out.
What was happening before we worked together?
The High-Performance Trap:"I wanted, my goal was basically to reach out more internally and the link between mind and body, sensations, feelings. And the objective is basically to be calmer, to sleep better, to slow down and calm my drive and my kind of ADHD kind of profile."
The Anxiety-Drive Cycle:"I'm someone who is often anxious and planning and a lot of thinking and using the mind... I think it's, again, reconnecting with my gut feeling, if you want, sensations, but also just breathing and releasing. In my mind, or in my body, if I feel something is stuck."
The Tension Challenge: Phil was caught in the classic entrepreneur pattern - high achievement paired with chronic tension, overwhelm, and difficulty slowing down. His natural drive was both his greatest asset and his biggest challenge.
What was the transformation process like?
The Unique Approach:"Well, the discipline that Olivier provides is quite unique from all the different coaching I've had myself... What surprised me is, is also that we also connected, we talked. So you kind of also coach, not I wouldn't say therapist, but a coach."
Flexibility Within Structure:"There's a certain element of, of I call it flexibility or simplicity, maybe. At the same time, it is about repetition... Where for example, if I ask something different, you always come up and you say yourself, you have 1000s of movements, you could teach me but it's, it's not about the technique."
The Integration Method: Phil discovered how to weave consciousness practices into his existing high-performance lifestyle through "snack habits" - 2-5 minute micro-moments that could be seamlessly integrated into his business day.
What specific results did you achieve?
Morning Transformation:"In the morning is one way where even if I'm tired, which usually I am when I get up at five or 6am, doing a 20 minutes routine of movements... it's really energizing and reconnecting me with myself in a way through simply following the body and getting into a certain energy."
Daily Performance Enhancement:"During the day when I walk, for example, remembering to keep a certain posture when I'm at my desk, moving and moving more consciously... in my thinking and doing and being is slowing down a bit towards my breathing, towards my movements."
Tension Release & Flow:"I would say tension... it is really softening it and by moving, especially just like releasing, I guess, releasing pressure, whether it's from being overwhelmed or being anxious or being too demanding with myself or other people."
Business Impact:"So getting more into the flow of life and flow of work. I think that's that's the impact... create some distance between them and their fears, their doubts, their, their mind, which is always running even at night."
Integration Success:"It was very good. As I said, a new dimension to my life... if you slow down, if you calmer, everybody will benefit. So it's a gift to yourself, but a gift to all the people you interact with."
What would you tell someone considering this work?
For Driven Entrepreneurs:"I think that probably everybody can benefit, but it could be that some people are actually on the other side, and they need a bit more energy and a bit more drive and growing faster in a way. But for people like me, let's say who don't have that problem, I have a different problem. It is about simplifying, it is about slowing down what you do in business, but also in your health, your energy, your mind, your rest, your recovery."
The Cost-Benefit Reality:"There's a certain cost attached to it as always. And, but there's also a cost attached to being unhealthy. That's what people forget."
Growth Mindset Application:"I would say this is just one of these things where you can innovate, you can add a layer or dimension to your life, private and professional, by the way, because if you slow down, if you calmer, everybody will benefit."
Implementation Strategy:"Having simple, what I call snack habits of two minutes or five minutes is really important. And this is easy to do it is flowing... I think you need probably about 10 sessions to get to get a sense of what it is really."
Openness Requirement:"I think what's important is to be open to be to follow to follow the process, the journey and to be curious about these kind of techniques... keep keep an open mind."
Personal Evolution:"I wasn't pro somatic a few years ago, I was like, somatic work? What? What's that? It's I wouldn't believe in it. And through having tried different things, and through my own health journey, I think you realize with age also that might be a piece missing in your in your life, actually."
